Visit our very own Tulip Festival this spring and get the full Dutch experience! You can easily spend and entire day admiring the flower fields, visiting the Windmills of the only still working Mill course in Holland, climbing the historic tower in the centre of Nieuwkoop en taking in the stunning views. Don’t forget to visit the poldermuseum to learn all about our history and the way we manage to live miles below sea level. Enjoy the smalltown lifestyle with the locals.

Your trip to Holland wont get any better! No queues of people, just a relaxing but exciting experience. Discover the authentic Dutch living in the charming village of Nieuwkoop, surrounded by lakes and nature reserves. Don’t hesitate to bring your children along, they will love it! The bike route and hiking route will take you to all the places you can’t miss, including a few of the best restaurants and sunny terraces. This will be a visit you won’t regret, and certainly one you won’t forget.

Due to the perfect location of Nieuwkoop, it’s also ideal for a longer stay. You will find yourself right in the middle of the Green Hart of Holland, only a 35 minutes drive from Amsterdam and all the other most intriguing cities of the Netherlands. Here you will have the best of both worlds: an exciting citytrip to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Leiden, Delft or Haarlem and a peaceful stay in the beautiful countryside. Have a look at the variety of amazing B&B's, campgrounds, holiday homes and small hotels Nieuwkoop has to offer.

What to see and do during the festival period?

Visit the highlight of the festival, the tulip fields themselves! Discover what makes them so special, and stop by for some local cheese and other products at farmer Jan’s shop

If you would like to expend your trip, plan a visit to the nearby the Park Zegersloot, Birdspark Avifauna and Themepark Archeon in Alphen aan den Rijn.
